Swiss-made Stockli skis hardly need an introduction. They’re some of the best in the business for smooth suspension, and “how do they do it” reactions from skiers of all skill levels. Some might say they’re just for experts, but we see dozens of staff every year who are progressing skiers hop on a Stockli and find the magic. For this year, Stockli has a lot new to offer. From revamping and expanding their most popular collection, an updated women’s collection, and a compelling new freeride ski, there’s plenty to chew on. What’s New
Let’s start with the popular ones. An updated Montero AR and AX . Not too many big changes here, but they’ve tweaked the layup. Stockli moved the layer of titanal with the cutouts to the bottom, moving the full width layer to the top. This gives the ski a bit more beef and more torsional rigidity in the front and rear of the ski, while still giving you a bit more fun at slow speeds compared to the old models. Shape remains the same.
If that doesn’t sound such as enough for you, take a gander at the new Montero AR Pro. This takes the shape of the Montero AR, but gives you two, full-width sheets of metal, along with their race grade sidewall, and they remove any turtle shell construction. What does that mean on snow ? Full gas, a rigid ski that will support high edge angles and gobbling up firm and rough snow.
On the women’s all-mountain side, their popular Nela ski gets a new look. We welcome a new Nela 93 and 86 to replace the 96 and 88 . Nothing too much has changed on the shape, but they’ve tweaked the core and the sidecut to make the skis snappier, more energetic, and a bit less stiff. That will make it easier to roll into the shovels, and less punishing if you wind up in the backseat.
Other Highlights
As promised, a new freeride ski hits the scene: the Stormrider 108 . This ski looks a bit different than the other Stormriders, with more sidecut. This ski is treated to a 16 meter turn radius, to deliver a turn-y ride in the softest snow.
The Stockli Laser MX , CX , and SX obtain an updated flex pattern, with slightly softer tips and a beefed up flex underfoot. That makes it easier to roll into the shovels, while giving you a bit more rigidity underfoot to lay into harder carves.
The WRT
skis get expanded carbon for more energy and dampness, but remain the top-end skis in the Stockli line.
